Art of Living Joins Hands with Maharashtra Govt for Huge Natural Farming Initiative

Bengaluru, Dec 8:  An MOU was signed in Mumbai on November 26th between The Art of Living Social Projects and the Department of Soil and Water Conservation, Government of Maharashtra. This MOU aims to promote natural, traditional farming and discourage the use of harmful chemicals.

Present at the occasion were Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Eknath Shinde (Chief Minister of Maharashtra), Devendra Fadnavis (Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra), and Prasana Prabhu (Chairman, Vyakti Vikas Kendra India).

Natural Farming has the potential to revolutionize farmers’ lives by requiring less capital and providing higher profitability.

The Art of Living Social Projects has already trained over 2.2 million farmers in Natural Farming. They continue to support farmers after training through a collaborative platform called Kisan Manch, which helps address the challenges faced by farmers. The team also connects farmers directly to markets to ensure fair compensation.

Eknath Shinde, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, emphasized the importance of working for the betterment of society and ensuring the happiness of farmers.

He mentioned that silt in the soil is valuable as it enhances soil fertility and increases groundwater levels. The government plans to start desilting projects in 30 districts soon. They hope that the move towards Natural Farming will be supported by Gurudev’s blessings.

Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, believes that Natural Farming will truly revolutionize farmers’ lives by requiring less capital and leading to higher profitability. Chemical-free farming will also help prevent cancer.

He appreciates the commitment of The Art of Living volunteers. To achieve their shared mission, this partnership aims to promote Natural Farming practices across 13 lakh hectares under the Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Naisargik Sheti Mission.

This initiative by the Government of Maharashtra is crucial for sustainable agriculture and the well-being of the environment and farming community.

Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar recalls a meeting with farmers where Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed significant support.

Gurudev emphasizes the need to reverse the process of adding chemicals to the soil and highlights the importance of synergy between the government and the people for progress.
