CSK Thump RCB by Six Wickets in IPL 2024 Opener, Mustafizur Rahman Steals the Show

The Chennai Super Kings kicked off their IPL 2024 campaign in style, defeating the Royal Challengers Bangalore by six wickets at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday.

RCB, electing to bat first, found themselves in early trouble, slumping to 78/5. However, a blistering partnership between Anuj Rawat (48 off 25) and Dinesh Karthik (38* off 26) rescued their innings. The duo added a crucial 95 runs in just 50 balls, propelling RCB to a total of 173/6. Mustafizur Rahman was the wrecker-in-chief for CSK, grabbing four wickets in his spell.

Chasing a modest target, CSK openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and debutant Rachin Ravindra provided a flying start. While Gaikwad fell early, Ravindra continued the momentum with a quickfire 37 off just 15 balls. Seasoned campaigners Ajinkya Rahane (27 off 19) and Shivam Dube (34* off 28) took CSK closer to victory before Ravindra Jadeja (25* off 17) finished things off in style, guiding his team home in 18.4 overs.

This win marks a winning start for the new-look CSK under captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, while RCB will be looking to bounce back in their next encounter.
