CUET-UG 2024 Dates May Shift Due to Lok Sabha Polls

New Delhi, March 3, 2024- The schedule for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET)-UG might change due to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, according to University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Jagadesh Kumar.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) had announced on February 27, 2024, that the CUET-UG would be held from May 15 to 31, with results declared on June 30. However, Kumar clarified in a statement that these dates are tentative.

“Once the election dates are announced, the NTA will finalize the CUET-UG dates,” Kumar told PTI. “The tentative schedule is from May 15.”

The application process for CUET-UG is currently ongoing and will close on March 26, 2024.

Introduced in 2022, CUET-UG serves as a single entrance exam for students seeking admission to various central universities, state universities, deemed universities, and private universities across the country.

This year, the exam will be conducted in a hybrid mode, with some subjects being offered as Computer Based Tests (CBT) and others administered through the traditional pen-and-paper format using Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheets.

Officials have indicated that subjects with a high volume of registrations will be conducted in the pen-and-paper mode, while others will continue to be computer-based tests. Last year, CUET-UG witnessed approximately 14.9 lakh registrations.
