Elon Musk Offers $1 Billion to Wikipedia in Exchange for Name Change to D*ckipedia

Elon Musk has made a bold donation offer to Wikipedia, but with one condition. The CEO of Tesla and owner of X (formerly known as Twitter) announced on his social media account that he would donate a significant amount of money to the online encyclopedia if they agree to change their website’s name.

“I will give them a billion dollars if they change their name to Dickipedia,” wrote Musk. “Please add that to the [cow and poop emojis] on my wiki page,” he continued. “In the interests of accuracy.”

Elon Musk‘s offer comes as a result of a previous tweet in which he expressed his criticism towards the Wikimedia Foundation for their high financial demands. “It certainly isn’t needed to operate Wikipedia. You can literally fit a copy of the entire text on your phone!” tweeted Musk. “So, what’s the money for? Inquiring minds want to know … “

Although, he didn’t have to wait long for an explanation. The app’s Community Notes stated that the free information organization handles over 25 billion page views and over 44 million page edits per month, which requires significant operating costs. The notes also mentioned that the Wikimedia Foundation employs third-party financial auditors, and their reports are available to the public.

This is not the first time Elon Musk and Wikipedia have clashed. In May, Wikipedia co-founder Jimmy Wales criticized Musk for restricting certain content on X before Turkey’s presidential election. Business Insider reported that the social media platform had become more compliant with government requests for censorship and surveillance under Musk’s leadership.

In 2018, Musk expressed his intention to create a website called Pravda. The website would allow the public to rate the core truth of any article and track the credibility score of journalists, editors, and their publications.
