GATE 2024: Exam Center Changes and Special Arrangements Amid Haldwani Unrest

Considering the ongoing unrest in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE 2024) has announced the cancellation of admit cards for students scheduled to take the exam in the affected area on February 11.

To ensure minimal disruption, candidates are advised to download their new admit cards from the official website:

Interestingly, the new admit cards will also serve as curfew passes. Candidates can present either a printed copy or display the new admit card on their mobile devices for entry to the exam center.

An official notification on the website states, “Given the current situation in Haldwani, GATE 2024 candidates scheduled to appear for EC (Session S7) and EE (Session S8) papers in Haldwani centers (iDZ Teenpani and iDZ Charayal) on February 11, 2024, must report to the following exam center in Bareilly.”

The designated exam center in Bareilly is iON Digital Zone iDZ Dohna, located at Shri Siddhi Vinayak Institute of Technology, 10 km Milestone, Nainital Road, Near Dohna Railway Station, Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, PIN 243202.

Special arrangements have been made for transportation. Buses will depart from Tikonia Chauraha, Haldwani, at 5:30 am on February 11, to ferry candidates to Bareilly. It’s strongly advised that candidates for both sessions S7 and S8 board the buses promptly at 5:30 am.

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a prestigious nationwide examination that evaluates candidates’ knowledge in various undergraduate-level disciplines. Success in the GATE exam opens avenues for pursuing Master’s and Doctoral programs with potential financial aid. Additionally, GATE scores are highly regarded by educational institutions and Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) for admissions and recruitment processes.
