Heavy Vehicle Entry Causing Traffic Jams in Varanasi’s Lohata

Varanasi, February 14, 2024: The Lohata region of Varanasi is currently experiencing traffic jams due to the entry of heavy vehicles during no-entry hours, causing concern among locals. Villagers have demanded restrictions on the entry of heavy vehicles from the police authorities.

According to locals, heavy vehicles from Korauti village have been entering the city from Ring Road Phase Two after 7:00 AM, passing through the Kotwa Police Outpost, causing congestion in the market area.

Villagers allege that some policemen at the Kotwa Police Outpost are allowing vehicle drivers to pass after taking a bribe of 50 rupees.

Similarly, on the Varanasi-Bhadohi route, tractor-trailers and large vehicles are rushing through the no-entry point in front of the police station. Two-wheeler and bicycle riders are also getting injured on the Kotwa-Lahartara route and the Varanasi-Bhadohi route.

Police officials have assured that an investigation into the matter is underway, and necessary steps will be taken to resolve the issue.

Concerns are growing among the people, and community representatives have urged the government to address the matter seriously.
