India Clinches Thrilling Win to Reach Ninth U-19 World Cup Final

Benoni, February 6, 2024 – India secured their spot in the U-19 World Cup final for the ninth time after defeating hosts South Africa by two wickets in a thrilling semi-final clash at Willowmoore Park.

Sachin Dhas’s resilient knock of 96 off 95 balls spearheaded India’s chase of 245 after a shaky start, where they were 36/4. Skipper Uday Saharam’s 81 also contributed significantly to India’s victory, forming a crucial partnership of 71 runs for the fifth wicket, a record in U-19 World Cup history.

Despite Kwena Maphaka’s breakthrough and a late fightback from the Proteas, India held their nerve to secure the win. Tristan Luus and Maphaka claimed three wickets each for South Africa.

Earlier, South Africa posted 244/7, with fifties from Lhuan-dre Pretorius and Richard Seletswane. Raj Limbani starred with the ball for India, picking up three crucial wickets.
