Indian National Found Dead in Queensland Floodwaters

Mount Isa, Queensland, February 16, 2024- Amid severe weather conditions in Queensland, Australia, an Indian national has been found dead in floodwaters near Mount Isa. The Indian High Commission in Canberra extended its condolences to the victim’s family and assured them of all necessary assistance.

In a statement shared on X, the Indian High Commission expressed deep sorrow over the incident and pledged support to the bereaved family. However, the identity of the victim has not been disclosed by the mission.

The situation in Queensland remains tense, with severe alerts issued for rain and thunderstorms. Queensland police issued warnings for heavy rainfall and potential flash flooding in parts of the Sunshine Coast Council Area, particularly near Maroochydore and its surrounding waters.

In another distressing incident, authorities reported the discovery of a deceased woman in a submerged car near Mount Isa. Queensland police have initiated an investigation into the matter and urge anyone with relevant information to come forward to aid the investigation process.
