Kohli Heartbroken as RCB Crash Out of IPL 14

Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) dream run in IPL 2024 was shattered on Wednesday after a four-wicket defeat to Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Ahmedabad. The loss eliminated RCB from the tournament, leaving their star batsman, Virat Kohli visibly dejected.

Kohli, the former RCB captain, expressed his frustration by dislodging the bails after the match, a gesture that resonated with fans. Social media was flooded with emotional responses to the scene.

“Virat Kohli finally flipping the bails down at the end of the match is both symbolic and poignant. The warrior played well throughout the tournament. In fact, he is the only World Cup-bound Indian player who was consistent. Well played,” wrote one user.

Another echoed the sentiment, stating, “Virat Kohli dropping the bails after the defeat, an unending story.”

A third user described the moment as heartbreaking: “Virat softly rubbing his hands over the stumps and putting the bails off has to be the most heartbreaking thing for me tonight.”

This wasn’t the first time Kohli’s dejection manifested in such a way. Fans were reminded of the 2023 World Cup final, where Kohli displayed a similar reaction after India’s loss to Australia.

Despite the team’s exit, Kohli remains the leading run scorer in IPL 2024 with a staggering 741 runs in 15 matches at a strike rate of 154. He also became the first player ever to reach the 8000-run mark in the IPL during the match against RR, achieving the feat with his signature elegance. His closest competitor, Shikhar Dhawan, trails far behind with 6,769 runs.

While Kohli’s individual brilliance shines, it’s bittersweet for RCB fans who yearned for the elusive IPL trophy.
